How Is Gastric Balloon Applied?
Before the gastric balloon procedure, patients must fast for 8-12 hours before the procedure. This procedure approximately takes 10-15 minutes. Sedation is applied to keep the patients in a comfortable position. First, oesophagus, stomach and duodenum are assessed with endoscopy. Then, the balloon lubricated with gel is guided to the stomach through the oesophagus and places inside the stomach under endoscopy. The balloon is filled with serum in the stomach with a special extension line and the procedure is completed. Patients are observed for a few hours after the procedure and after this time, they are discharged. Patients do not need to be hospitalised. But it is extremely important for the patient to constantly communicate with the doctor in the following stages.
